Our Second Beekeeping Class Day 1 - A Success, with Pics

We had our Part 1 class today for our second group of future beekeepers today in Georgetown!  We covered the basics of the sport, and we built hives for the participants to use in their own apiaries.

We got out tools out to build some boxes, and son Will helped to screw them together.  Putting together a hive is a great tool to help understand how a hive goes together and what the various pieces of the hive do.
It wasn't all work, as the dead soldiers on the table suggest....

Then it was up to the roof to see the bees, which were flying today because of the mild weather.  The bees were, understandably, a bit irritated and pinged a few of us, especially me!

We will be having another class in early March, please let us know if you'd like to join us!
