Communist Beekeepers...

I know we are helping the ecosystem, and I know that there are some awkward metaphorical allusions between a bee colony and communal living, but why does it always become a topic of conversation with the academic elite.

Earn a living trying to keep bees and let me know how it goes without the grant money.  Nice bee suits, by the way!  Were they sold out of the formal-wear version?

Their suggestion that they are the largest urban apiary, and that there are only a dozen or so beekeepers in the District is patently incorrect.  We helped propagate 45 new hives this year in the District.

  1. I love the irony of Thomas Seeley's great book, "Honeybee Democracy" at the 1:05 mark, juxtaposed against the "Honeybee Communism" remark at 2:25. Perhaps she needs to study some of Dr. Seeley's amazing work and insights into how bees make decisions.
